G.O.P Crisis

REPUBLICAN SHENANIGANS

Republicans must always win

Will cheat, and lie … use deadly sins

Republican shenanigans

Will turn the tables  … yes they can

Trump’s instrument, promised revenge

Should make Republicans all cringe

Great War against his enemies

His second term … BIG power to seize

Executive …  autocratic

Attitudes undemocratic

Hold onto power as major goal

Conquest beyond this country’s soul

On pinnacle … their leadership

Must hold the reins and never slip

Rigging the system, changing rules

Ignore the voters, call them fools

To win, to rule, to be on top

They’ll cheat and lie and never stop

When voters choose the other path *

Negate their choice … it’s one last laugh

Heads up we win, with tails you lose

Don’t worry now, don’t be confused

When winning is name of the game

They’ll find a way to win or blame

Encounter with their nominees

Overlooking Ignominies

Time and again, they’re voted out

Quick clue to call things rigged with shout

As leadership with no excuse

In spotlight they enact abuse

No plans, and no more policies

Infighting with their jealousies

Of Speaker, possibilities

It’s MAGA MIKE, religious sleaze

White male, latest lord and master

Causing worry of disaster

  • INSPIRATION:  NYTimes OPINION entitled:
When it Comes to Disdain for Democracy, Trump Has Company
  • By Janelle Bouie, November 17, 2023
  • The  OPINION essay by Jamelle Bouie gave several examples of Republican shenanigans.
  • The most recent of these: Last week, Ohioans voted  overwhelmingly to write reproductive rights into their state Constitution, repudiating their gerrymandered, anti-choice legislature.
  • Not one full day after the vote, four Republican state representatives announced that they intended to do everything in their power to nullify the amendment and give lawmakers total discretion to ban abortion as they se fit.
  • Their statement reads: “We will do everything in our power to prevent our laws from being removed upon perception of intent. We were elected to protect the most vulnerable in our state and we will continue to do that work”
  • Bouie notes their language in this statement: “OUR POWER ” and “OUR LAWS”. There is no awareness that the people of OHIO are sovereign and that their vote to amend the state  Constitution holds greater authority than the judgment of a small group of legislators.
